county located in the
U.S. state of
Missouri. As of 2000, the population is 10,494. Its
county seat is
Monticello. The county was organized in 1833 and named for explorer and governor of the
Louisiana Territory,
Meriwether Lewis.

square miles (1,323
km²), of which, 505 square miles (1,308 km²) of it's land and 6 square miles (15 km²) of it (1.15%) is water.
